Salt & Palm Tip: IOP Beach is just a few miles from the house. You can park in the public parking lot or there is street parking at meters. Both of those options are in the downtown area. If you are just going to the beach and don't need to be near bathrooms or town you can take advantage of free street parking. For this parking you would take the IOP Connector to the island and turn left on Palm Boulevard. Follow Palm Boulevard around and you can park anyplace on this road as long as you have tires off the road. You will see beach access walkways on the right all the way down until you hit Wild Dunes at the end of the island

Capers Island

Salt & Palm Tip: Beautiful remote island. Coastal Expeditions is a tour group that takes groups to Capers and lets you off to explore the island. Take a walk down to Boneyard Beach while you are there. With a permit you can camp overnight on Capers.
Dewees Island

Salt & Palm Tip: Dewees is across the water from Capers. Sometimes Capers gets busy with boaters so I prefer going to Dewees for a quieter more remote experience.
Sullivan’s Island
Salt & Palm Tip: You can park anywhere on the island for free as long as your tires are off the road.

Salt & Palm Tip: This beach is a hidden gem and mostly just known by the locals. The link above says it is called Melton Peter Demetre Park and that it is in Charleston but it is known as Sunrise Park by the locals and it is on James Island.
Folly Beach Lighthouse Walk
Take Center St. to the ocean. Turn left onto East Ashley Ave. Follow East Ashley all the way to the end. You will find the entrance to the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve. The graffiti-covered paved path starts the journey. Walk down the Graffiti path to the sandy beach where you will see views of the Morris Island Lighthouse.

Salt & Palm Tip: There is no water, no bathrooms, no swimming and no dogs on this path. Wear good shoes, pack light and bring bug spray. I recommend going earlier in the day.
